Holiday Travel Trends I’m Seeing This Season

A look at the meaningful travel patterns shaping this holiday season

The holidays always bring a moment of pause. It’s the time of year when travelers reflect on what matters, who they want to spend time with and the kinds of experiences they want to step into next. Here are the themes I’m seeing right now as we close out the year and look toward 2026 and 2027.

Experiences Over Gifts

Instead of exchanging presents, many travelers are choosing to create memories together. I’m seeing families, partners and loved ones who feel like family prioritize shared experiences over wrapped gifts. Some are heading to warm beaches to celebrate the new year, while others are planning meaningful cultural journeys that have been on their hearts for a long time.

These trips often become the moments people look back on and say, “I’m so glad we did that.”

Meaningful, Longer Journeys

Travelers are gravitating toward itineraries that allow them to slow down and truly immerse themselves. Whether it’s an extended cruise, a multi country adventure or a thoughtfully curated land journey, people want trips that make room for rest, connection and reflection.

It’s less about rushing from place to place and more about feeling present.

Small Group and Hosted Travel Gains Momentum

There’s a noticeable rise in interest for small group experiences that feel welcoming and comfortable. Travelers want community, but not crowds. They want itineraries that feel curated, inclusive and easy to step into.

Holiday market trips are especially popular, and early inquiries for my 2027 Tanzania small group journey reflect this shift toward intentional, community centered travel.

These trips create a space where travelers can be themselves, enjoy connection and explore with ease.

Warm Weather Escapes for Renewal

As winter settles in, I’m hearing from travelers who want warmth, sunshine and a break from the hustle. All inclusive resorts and small ship cruises continue to be favorites because they offer simplicity, comfort and room to breathe.

These escapes are often chosen as a way to start the new year with clarity and calm.

Planning Ahead for 2026 and 2027

More travelers are thinking ahead to the big journeys they want to experience in the next one to two years. Bucket list destinations like Japan and Egypt continue to inspire curiosity, as do river cruises and extended cultural itineraries.

Planning early gives travelers access to the best options and allows their trip to unfold with intention.

A Season of Connection

Across every conversation and itinerary, one theme stands out. Travelers want connection. They want to explore alongside the people who matter most, feel welcomed wherever they go and return with stories that reflect the heart of their relationships.

If you’re starting to imagine an experience that feels meaningful, intentional and aligned with where you want to go next, I’d love to help you bring it to life!
